We should have said that tho $300,-000 is to bo made payablo in ten (10) years, or tho whole or any part of it sooner, if the county so desire, by giving due notice. This makes tho proposition still more favorable, and gives us pleasure in making thecorrection. Wo hear scandalous reports about the County Poor farm. It is not our province to deal in dirtiness, but when it gets too thick and clogs common decency and becomes an inou-buson society, it is time to sweep it away, and the attention of the Grand jury is respectfully called to it. If it is only scandal it ought to be stopped, and if the reports are ti uo, there is room yet in the penitentiary for such rapacious monsters. ""We have seen eonsfderabl blow ing over big hen fruit in our exchanges, especially in some of our eastern ones, and now we want them to dry up. Union, the County Jeat town of Franklin County, State of Missouri, has the champicn hen for the largest eggs ever recorded, and she is owned by Geo. N. Fink, who has placed one on exhibition at Ilein's saloon, that weighs three and one quarter ounces, and measures 8 and 3-8 by 6 and 1-4 inches in circumfer- encr, and of this, your deponent puts himself upon tho country. Wo passed tho Grange Storo at Kellers the other day, and conclud ed to stop in and .get a cigar, but be fore alighting at the gate, wo had reason to suspect that tho storo was too well kept, and that it might bo a tear cigar. Two largo dogs com menced howling and ono of them camo flying down to the gate (the other was chained) and manifested such a disposition to samplo our flesh thnt we were entirely convin ccd that ihe store was the best kept institution that wo ever saw, thai robbers and burglars would be kept away as well as customers, and we rode awav. Tho recent rains have again caused tho Borbeusc to riso and overflow tho bottoms, and to make the fords impassable, and to interrupt the fish ing business, and to make the ground too wet to r!ant corn, and the roads too mud ly f r the people to come to town, and tints indirectly to prevent tho Editor from getting all the news To our view tho town of Union is nno of the prettiest in the state, lying in a basin, sjuto tin deal by gen tly receeding hills upon all sidw, dotted with farm houses and orchards, now in full bloom with fieldn of beautiful deep green.
