The first issues available for The Wheaton Journal begin in 1919, and list Maurice V. Lamberson as editor and publisher. In 1924. J.W. and Bessie Fox purchased The Journal from Lamberson.  After more than forty years at the Journal, the Foxes sold the paper in 1967 to Mr. and Mrs. Howard White. In 1970 the Whites sold The Journal to the Wheaton Publishing Company, chaired by M.V. Lamberson’s grandson Joe Lamberson. By 1971 the Wheaton Publishing Company, sold The Journal to Mr. and Mrs. Bill Howsman. In January 1994 the paper was purchased by Newton E. Renfro. In June 1994 Renfro sold the paper to his employees, Editor David Moore and reporter Tina Moore.
