The Nodaway County Democrat was first published on Saturday November 13, 1869 by A. P. Morehouse and A. C. Buell. The publishers “shall endeavor to make it, both as a local paper and as the county organ of the political faith it heralds in its name, worthy of your cordial patronage and carful perusal.” By early 1870, Buell became the sole editor and in April the name of the newspaper changed to the Nodaway Democrat. The paper was published under this title until 1910.
