With the end of the Franklin County Observer as a news outlet in Washington, Missouri, A.H. Breckenkamp and his partner J.D. Webb started the Washington Missourian. The Breckenkamp family ran the paper for the next eleven year, eventually selling to James L. Miller. An experienced newspaperman, Miller made the struggling paper a success and kept the paper in his family. The paper still publishes today under the guidance of the Miller family.
