The year 1904 brought the Van Buren Echo to the city of Van Buren, Missouri. Mr. Ira A. Carr started the publication with high hopes and “a kind feeling for everyone,” but the paper only had enough support for one year. Although it is not explicitly clear exactly what occurred to lead the paper to ruin, it seems that some members of the Republican party of the county did not agree with the opinions related in the paper and sought to see it gone. They succeeded and the paper ended its run in 1905.
