The Clarence Courier was the second newspaper published in the town of Clarence. This Democratic newspaper was started by W.M. Bradley in February 1881. He didn’t remain with the paper for long as he sold it to W.D. Powell in May 1882. The paper was continually published every Wednesday until March 14, 1928, when it was joined with the Shelby County Independent to form the Independent Courier. By 1946, the name was changed back to the Clarence Courier and remains so today.
